Engineered Wood Flooring is specially constructed to give it more stability than normal solid wood flooring. The boards are created from layers of real wood which is pressed together under extremely high pressures, resulting in material that holds several advantages over regular solid wood boards.
Our engineered wood flooring is available in one of two styles: square-edged or bevelled – if you want a minimal join between each board and a more seamless transition between the planks, choose a square-edged floor. If you want a more rustic look that is more akin to traditional solid wood flooring then you want bevelled-edge engineered floors.
Engineered flooring is not as prone to expanding or shrinking due to changes in humidity and temperature as solid wood boards, and will not so readily absorb moisture from the sub-floor following installation. The way that boards are manufactured means that the finished product is more durable and stable than ordinary solid wood boards while also having the same look and appeal.
Another advantage of wood flooring is that it can be used in conjunction with under-floor heating systems as long as certain guidelines are followed. If you would like to know more about the use of underfloor heating with wood flooring don’t hesitate to contact us to speak to one of our flooring experts.
